Disappearance, imprisonment, appalling conditions and torture are the ways Chinese authorities “deal” with Tibetans who fall foul of the regime. At Free Tibet, a focus of our work has always been to locate where political prisoners are being held, push for improvement in their treatment, and campaign for their release.
We know from former prisoners that international pressure on individual cases does mean conditions improve. Our work on individual prisoners is also often cited by the United Nations, letting China know that the world is watching.
There are hundreds of political prisoners in Tibet and while the victories we see might seem small, they are also making a real, positive impact on people’s lives – in some cases they may even save lives.
Join today and help save more Tibetan lives.
