This December, we are taking a look back at some of the amazing success we have achieved together in 2022. So far we have looked at our campaign wins. global headline-hitting actions and key advocacy work. Our last week is focussing on the vital research that is the backbone of Free Tibet campaigns.
- We wrote and are launching a ground-breaking report at the Houses of Parliament. Read more
In early 2023, we're releasing the Drago County Report: a research document about catastrophic demolitions and torture in Drago, eastern Tibet. This report is momentous. It's the culmination of 18 months of research, sourcing rare images, and conducting pivotal interviews with our sources. We want to distribute copies of the report far and wide. Your continued support will boost our reach.
- Tibet was represented at the UN Climate Conference. Read more
Last month, your donations funded Tenzin Choekyi's journey to COP27 in Egypt. Choekyi was part of a delegation of Tibetan women who raised the urgency of Tibet's climate crisis with government officials and civil society groups. In occupied Tibet, climate activists face intimidation and arrest at the hands of the Chinese government, which continues to exploit Tibet's natural resources and displace Tibetan people from their ancestral lands. Our presence at COP27 was critical. Your support amplified Tibetan voices.
- We brought you news stories from occupied Tibet that would have remained underground without Free Tibet's research partner, Tibet Watch, . Read more
This year, Tibet Watch reported on 38 stories from inside Tibet, exposing the Chinese government's strategy to eliminate Tibetan identity. We brought you the news of Rinchen Kyi's release, the cost of the zero-COVID policy on frontline workers, and unjust detentions and torture. You won't hear about these things in the mainstream news.
Without this research, the world wouldn't hear about the scale of human rights abuses by the Chinese government, and Free Tibet would not have the information to run critical campaigns. Your contribution will help us bring more news stories to the surface: stories that demand to be heard.
